How We Work

Our Home Remodeling Process: From Consultation to Completion

Five clear steps, weekly check-ins and written change orders from the first call to the final walkthrough.

Our Process

A remodel that stays organized from the first call to the last detail

Most remodeling frustration comes from unclear scope, late decisions and silence from the crew. Our five-step process prevents all three, so you always know what is decided, what is next and who to call.

Why It Matters

Why we plan before we build

A remodel goes well when the hard decisions happen before demolition. Cabinet lead times, stone selection, permit questions and trade scheduling all affect the result, and each is easier to settle on paper than in a gutted kitchen.

Gazi Kose, our founder, stays involved in every project from the first conversation through closeout. ATX Renovations is a woman-owned, family-operated and fully insured company serving Austin and nearby cities, and the same process applies to a single bathroom or a full-home renovation.

The Five Steps

How a remodel with ATX Renovations works

Step 1

Step 1: Initial Consultation

We start with a free 30-minute consultation to understand your goals, your budget range, the project requirements and what you expect from the finished space. Photos and inspiration images help if you have them, but none of it is required. We reply to every inquiry within one business day.

Step 2

Step 2: Design & Planning

Once the direction is clear, we take measurements and work through design decisions with you. Material selections are made here, including cabinetry, countertops, tile, fixtures and lighting, often with our supplier partners. The result is a written project plan that defines the scope.

Step 3

Step 3: Pre-Construction Preparation

Before work starts on site, we build the schedule, confirm which permits your project needs and place material orders. Long-lead items such as custom cabinets and natural stone are ordered early. Construction typically begins 4 to 8 weeks after the contract is signed, depending on permits and lead times.

Step 4

Step 4: Construction & Project Management

During the build we coordinate every trade, check the quality of each stage before the next begins and keep the jobsite orderly. You get a weekly check-in with progress updates, and questions get answered directly. Electrical and plumbing work is handled by licensed professionals.

Step 5

Step 5: Final Walkthrough & Completion

At the end of construction we do a final inspection and then walk through the space together, room by room. Anything that needs adjusting goes on a list, and we complete those items before closeout, once you confirm the work matches what was agreed.

Communication

Weekly check-ins and written change orders

Every project has a weekly check-in covering what was finished, what comes next, any decisions we need from you and anything that affects the schedule. Between check-ins you can reach us at (512) 234-4004 or info@atxrenovations.com.

Changes happen on almost every remodel, and they are fine when handled openly. If you want to add something, or we find a hidden condition behind a wall, we document the change in writing with the scope, the cost and the effect on the schedule. Nothing is billed without your approval, and material selections are documented the same way.

Working Together

What helps a project run smoothly

A few things on your side make a real difference.

Timely selections

Choosing finishes by the dates in the project plan keeps orders on schedule. We tell you which decisions are time-sensitive.

One point of contact

Send questions and decisions through one channel so nothing gets lost. We keep the same discipline on our side.

HOA information

If your neighborhood has an HOA, share its rules early. We can help prepare a submission, but approval belongs to the HOA.

Common Questions

Remodeling process FAQ

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

It depends on the scope. A cabinet and countertop update moves faster than a remodel that changes the layout, relocates plumbing or uses custom cabinetry and natural stone. Construction typically begins 4 to 8 weeks after the contract is signed, and on-site work then usually runs for several weeks. We put a written schedule together during pre-construction so you have real dates for your project.

Do I need permits for a bathroom remodel in Austin?

It depends on the scope and the city. Cosmetic updates such as paint, a new vanity or new fixtures in the same location often do not need a permit. Moving plumbing, adding electrical circuits, changing ventilation or altering walls typically does. The City of Austin has an Express Permit option for some limited bathroom scopes, and larger scopes need a full residential permit. Nearby cities have their own rules, so we confirm what applies during pre-construction.

Can I stay in my home during renovations?

Often yes, especially for a single room, but expect noise, dust and some interruptions. During a kitchen remodel you will be without a working kitchen for a stretch, and larger projects can make staying home hard. We talk through the realistic options during pre-construction, including how to protect the parts of the home that are not part of the work.

How are project changes handled?

Every change is documented in a written change order that describes the new scope, the cost and any effect on the schedule. The work does not begin until you approve it, and we do not bill for changes without that approval.

What happens during the final walkthrough?

We walk through the finished space with you, room by room, and compare the work against the agreed scope and selections. Anything that needs adjustment goes on a list that we complete before closeout.
