Bathroom Remodeling
Calm, stone-led bathrooms with waterproofing and plumbing handled properly behind the walls.
Austin Bathrooms
The tile gets the compliments, but waterproofing, slope, ventilation and plumbing decide whether the room still looks good years from now. We plan the hidden work first and the finishes second. ATX Renovations is fully insured, and our founder is hands-on from the first visit to the last.

Approach
Water finds the weak point in any bathroom, so we treat the shower, the floor and the wall behind the vanity as a system. Substrate prep, membranes, drainage and ventilation are decided before a single tile is chosen, and they are inspected before they are covered.
That discipline lets the design side stay quiet and warm. Stone texture, soft light and clean detailing make a bathroom feel like a retreat rather than a clinic, and none of it holds up if the foundation of the work is rushed.

Scope
Projects range from a single shower rebuild to a full primary suite.
Curbless and low-threshold showers, custom niches, benches and frameless glass enclosures fitted to the finished tile.
Large-format porcelain, marble and mosaic installations, with layouts planned so cuts land where they look intentional.
Custom vanities, millwork, mirrors and lit medicine cabinets, with lighting placed to flatter faces rather than flatten them.
Freestanding and alcove tubs, rain heads, body sprays and heated floors, coordinated with plumbing and electrical early.
Compact rooms reward careful planning. Wall-hung vanities, recessed storage and a single continuous floor can make a small room feel larger.
Wider clearances, grab bar blocking, curbless entries and seated showers for homeowners who want to stay in their house comfortably.

Waterproofing and Ventilation
A shower needs a continuous waterproof layer, a floor that slopes to the drain, and joints sealed where planes meet. We prefer to test and look before closing walls rather than trusting that it will be fine. Fan sizing and venting matter just as much, because a bathroom that stays damp breeds the problems that tile cannot fix.
Plumbing and electrical work is done with licensed professionals where the trade requires it. Moving a drain, adding a heated floor or relocating a vanity light each has consequences in the wall, and we scope them with those trades before pricing the job.
Process
We see the room, check for water damage or soft spots, and talk about how the bathroom is used and what you want to keep.
Layout, tile, fixtures and glass are chosen and documented, so the plumber, tile setter and glass fabricator all work from the same plan.
Fixtures and tile are ordered and checked on arrival, since a wrong or damaged piece found mid-build stalls the job. Permit needs are confirmed here.
Demolition, rough plumbing and electrical, waterproofing, tile and finish work proceed in order, with a weekly check-in and written change orders.
A final walkthrough covers every fixture, seal and surface. You sign off when the room is finished to your standard.
Questions
It depends on the scope. Cosmetic work such as paint, new fixtures installed in the same spot and surface replacement may not need a building permit. Moving plumbing fixtures, changing walls, or adding or altering electrical and plumbing work usually does, and trade permits can apply even when a building permit does not. The City of Austin has a faster express review for some limited bathroom remodels. Rules also differ between Austin and nearby cities, so we confirm what applies to your address during pre-construction.
Typically longer than people expect, because waterproofing and tile setting need cure time between steps. The exact duration depends on scope and material lead times, and we give you a schedule before demolition begins.
Yes, this is one of the most common requests. We check the floor structure, drain location and wall condition first, since those determine whether the conversion is simple or needs more work.
Porcelain is a dependable, low-maintenance choice, while natural stone is beautiful but needs sealing and care. Large-format tile means fewer grout lines. We show you the trade-offs with samples rather than pushing one option.
Yes. Curbless entries, seated showers, non-slip floor finishes and blocking in the walls for future grab bars can be built in without a clinical look.
Yes. We manage the trades under one schedule, so you deal with one project team rather than coordinating separate contractors yourself.
