Two bathrooms, two directions

This Lakeway project is shown through two bathrooms. One pairs a gold-finish vanity with a geometric tile wall and a frameless glass shower. The other keeps to wood, white subway tile and soft light.

Bathroom remodels in Lakeway

ATX Renovations remodeled these bathrooms in Lakeway, a lakeside community in the Austin area. The two rooms take different directions but share one idea: a single strong element in each room, with plain surfaces around it.

In the first, the strong element is the wall tile and the vanity. In the second, it is the wood vanity against bright white tile and a tall oval mirror.

What the finished bathrooms include

These are the elements visible in the completed rooms.

Statement vanity

A gold-finish open-frame vanity with a towel shelf below and a white marble-look top sits against the patterned wall.

Geometric wall tile

A gray and white geometric tile covers the wall behind the vanity and is visible under the open frame as well.

Frameless glass shower

The walk-in shower has frameless glass and marble-look wall tile, with a niche and warm-toned fixtures.

Wood vanity bath

The second bathroom has a stained wood vanity with a marble-look top, an oval mirror with a thin wood frame and two black wall sconces.

Subway tile and glass

White subway tile runs as wainscot with a ledge trim, and continues into a tub area closed with a frameless glass panel.

Floors and lighting

Large-format light tile covers one floor and small gray hex mosaic the other, with wall sconces beside the mirrors in both rooms.

Materials and design details

The finishes in these Lakeway bathrooms

In the gold vanity bath, the metal frame, the round mirror, the faucet and the wall sconces share one warm finish, which ties the room together. The tile pattern is bold, so the counter is a plain white stone-look slab with soft gray veining.

In the wood vanity bath, the vanity has a weathered finish with dark round knobs and turned legs, and a white marble-look top with a small raised back edge. The shower fixtures are in a soft brass tone, and the shower niche is edged with a stone-look sill.

Both rooms are lit from the sides rather than from above, with sconces flanking the mirror. That light is softer on faces than a single ceiling fixture.
